Studio 180 Dance
It's recital month! How exciting: the rehearsals, the pictures and finally the actual show where all of our amazing students show off the results of their hard work this year! The recital and aerial showcases are only weeks away, so keep rehearsing, smiling and loving dance and life!

And while our thoughts are consumed with the upcoming pictures and recitals, it's already time to think about summer and fall registration. We have a full summer program with classes and camps. Dancing during the summer months will help you maintain your technique and strength for the fall semester. The faculty at Studio 180 can't wait to keep dancing and growing with returning and new students. See you in the studio!
Picture Schedule
There are no classes the week of May 3rd. With one exception: all of Miss Katie's classes will be held Tuesday May 4th, but canceled Tuesday May 11th for pictures (Miss Meggie's classes will run Tuesday, May 11th, but not Tuesday May 4th). We will be having "open studio" time from 4-9pm on Tuesday May 4th and Friday May 7th.  This is time for dancers to come practice their pieces at their convenience. They can come alone or get their class together to meet at a specific time. We will be here with all of their music and to help in any way we can.

If your costume does not arrive in time for your scheduled pictures, we will call you to change your picture time.  If your costumes come in before your scheduled picture time, we will call you to come pick them up so the picture schedule can remain as is.  We apologize for this inconvenience.

Ordering Information:
The pictures will be posted online a week after picture week. The website and password will be given out to all dancers and parents to view their pictures. There is no pre-paying and you may order pictures online at this website.

The Nitty-Gritty for the Dance & Aerial Recitals
May 21 Dress Rehearsal
The dress rehearsals for dance classes are on May 21st  at The Chesapeake Arts Center. Students must be in full makeup, hair and costume to make sure there are no costume mishaps. Spacing will be set on the stage. Dress rehearsal is MANDATORY to be in the recital. If you know you will be unable to attend, you must speak with your instructor NOW. If you do not speak with your instructor beforehand and do not come, you will be cut from the dance. All costume balances are past due.

May 22 Dance Recital
Our second annual Studio 180 Dance Recital will be held at The Chesapeake Arts Center, located at 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, MD 21225. The recital will take place in the Hammonds Lane Theatre at 2:00pm.

For 1 student, there is a $25 recital fee and for more than 1 student/family, a $30 recital fee. With this fee, you will receive 2 complimentary tickets! Extra tickets are being sold for $10 at the front desk. The day of the recital tickets will be sold at the door for $12. However, tickets are going fast, so be sure to purchase them in advance at the front desk in case the show sells out! Also, All costume balances were due March 1st. And final costume payments are due now. Please be sure these balances are paid this week.

Videotaping or flash photography are prohibited during the recital. Instead, you can pre-order a DVD of the Studio 180's Spring Dance Recital today! This video will be offered on a custom DVD with full menus and chapter markers for easy navigation, supplied in a custom case to preserve the memories of your dancers.

DVD's are only $35.00 each. Pick up an order form at the Studio or place your order online at: www.everclearvideo.com. Orders can also be placed the day of the recital.

May 23 Aerial Showcase
Studio 180 Dance will host 4 Aerial Dance Shows at the studio to showcase our aerial dance students! Dress rehearsals will be the week before during regular classtimes. Students must be in full makeup, hair and costume to make sure there are no costume mishaps. If you know you will be unable to attend, you must speak with your instructor NOW. As this show will not be professionally videotaped, audience members are free to bring cameras and video cameras to record the aerialists. If doing so, however, flash and noise are not permitted.

This showcase is free, however, donations are welcome and appreciated! To make a donation, see Ms. Courtney at the front desk before or after the shows!

Make-Up Class Schedules
As we all know, the snow in February caused us to stay home for what seemed like eternity! Since children will still be in school after our May recital, we are going to add a week of make-up classes then. Not all classes are at regular class times, so please view the make-up schedule online. And feel free to call the studio if you have any other questions!
Summer Camps & Classes
Summer Camps
Except for 'My First Dance Camp', June 21 - June 25 session, camps are 9:30 - 3:30 pm. And, with the exception of My First Dance Camp, we provide Before Care 7:30 - 9:30 am for $10 per day per camper for designated camps; After Care 3:30 - 5:30 pm costs $10 per day per camper. Before and After Care must be contracted for with camp registration. *Before and After Care not available with My First Dance Camp.

50% of the camp fees are due with registration. The 50% balance of all fees [including Before and After Care fees] is due no later than June 1, 2010 for all camps. We offer a 5% early bird discount if paid in full by April 30, 2010. Campers may receive a 50% refund until June 15, 2010; no refunds after June 15, 2010 as your contract will state.

All campers attending class must bring a bottle of water and lunch. We also recommend a healthy snack. Please pack lunches in thermal lunch packs as they will not be refrigerated.

Studio 180 Dance reserves the right to cancel summer classes or camps due to insufficient enrollment. Class times are subject to change.

Studio 180's DanceHard/ DanceStrong© curriculum and performance are fun and appropriate to all age levels.

Thanks to Southgate Elementary School for having us April 21st! Ms. Katie, Ms. Brooke and Ms. Meggie performed tap, ballet, trapeze and fabric. Ms. Katie spoke, relating dance to sports to show how dance as a fitness activity can improve performance in sports!
Studio 180 Dances with D.A.R.E.
Ms. Katie is wrapping up this year's session with D.A.R.E., culminating in an open house on May 11th at Mills Parole Elementary School. She "used the D.A.R.E. life skills and themes (anti-drug abuse, decision making, consequences, peer pressure, self control, self esteem, assertiveness, dealing with stress, respect, anti-violence, taking positive risks, positive alternatives, responsibility, accountability) to complement dance instruction."

Ms. Katie has had "such a wonderful experience sharing her love of dance to inspire healthy lifestyles to Annapolis' youth." Ms. Katie looks forward to continuing to work with D.A.R.E. next year! To read more about D.A.R.E. Dance's program, check out their website!
Studio 180 Hosts a Girl Scout Badge!
This March, Miss Katie held special sessions to help the Daisy Troop and the Brownie Troop from Indian Creek to earn their Girl Scout Sports Badges! Miss Katie is excited to show the girls that dance is, in fact, a sport.

Sports Conditioning by Studio 180
Miss Katie, studio owner and certified Zumba® instructor, is continuing her conditioning camp for Johns Hopkins Women's Lacrosse team! Head Coach Janine Tucker raved, "Katie was fantastic working with our team! Her Zumba® workouts were fun, intense and extremely beneficial. My team loves Zumba® class with Katie!" The women's lacrosse team had so much fun, that Miss Katie is now returning to whip them into shape during their spring break and upcoming season!
