Annapolis, MD - 05/23/10 - Studio 180 Dance had their Second Annual Aerial Dance Showcases at Studio 180 on May 23rd, 2010 at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. Students ages 2 - adult performed well-rehearsed dances. The dances, costumes, and smiles were perfect and audience members enjoyed the growth of their loved ones. Studio 180 Dance's owner, Katie Carpenter, and her aerial faculty of 4 are so proud of all their students and how successfully they performed.
 
This semester, Carpenter and aerial faculty emphasized the transition from circus aerial to aerial dance. Unlike traditional dance classes, aerial dance pieces are often choreographed by students in collaboration with their instructor. The students achieved the flow and grace integrated between tricks of aerial dance with ease. The dances were dynamic and reflected the goals of the transition to aerial dance.
 
The first annual aerial dance scholarship was presented to Maddie Micek. Scholarships allow dancers a discount on tuition due to their hard work, improvement, commitment and overall attitude when at the studio and in class. Carpenter and faculty are so proud of Micek!
 
Studio 180 Dance offers instruction in the traditional disciplines of ballet, Pointe, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, acro jazz, and lyrical as well as aerial dance, Zumba®, and Zumbatomic®. Studio 180 Dance also hosts a competitive dance team. All dancers are welcome, beginner through professional levels, ages 2 through adult.
