Studio180 Dance
Performs at Southgate Elementary School
Annapolis, MD - 04/29/10 - Wednesday, April 21st, Studio 180 Dance owner and artistic director, Katie Carpenter, took her faculty, aerial rig and dance shoes to Southgate Elementary School in Glen Burnie, Maryland to perform her Dance Hard/Dance Strong© curriculum for 350 students. Carpenter and her faculty performed tap, ballet, trapeze and fabric. Carpenter spoke from her DanceHard/ DanceStrong© curriculum in between dances. The DanceHard/ DanceStrong© curriculum relates dance to sports to show how dance as a fitness activity can improve performance in sports. Carpenter explained concepts to the children such as kinesthetic awareness, flexibility, endurance, and rehabilitation through words and physical demonstration.

Studio 180 Dance's DanceHard/ DanceStrong© curriculum and performance are fun and appropriate to all age levels. The Studio 180 Dance philosophy is demonstrated in this curriculum as we emphasize overall well-being through physical activity and creative expression.

The Studio 180 Dance faculty will perform next at the First Sunday Festival on West Street in Annapolis. Visit them for a free show at the stage in Stan and Joe's parking lot from 12-5pm on Sunday May 2nd.

Studio 180 Dance offers instruction in the traditional disciplines of ballet, Pointe, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, acro jazz, and lyrical as well as aerial dance, Zumba®, and Zumbatomic®.
